About the Battenkill Chorale
The Battenkill Chorale was founded in 1995 by Janet McGhee, who served as Artistic director for its first twenty-four years. The Battenkill Chorale is a dedicated group of amateur singers that has become one of the cultural crown jewels of the North Country and the Capital Region. The Battenkill Chorale has gained a reputation for performing challenging programs. The richly-varied and critically-acclaimed repertoire includes major choral works, classic and contemporary pieces, accompanied by professional orchestras, ensemble musicians, and soloists. Diversity of musical style, language and idiom, along with a wide range of concert themes, provides an appealing variety of vocal music for both singer and audience. The Chorale is currently led by Artistic Director, Gene Marie Callahan, with the assistance of our accompanist, Erich Borden. We rehearse at Hubbard Hall in Cambridge, NY, an 1878 rural opera house, and the Cambridge United Presbyterian Church. We present concert performances twice a year at several venues in and near the Cambridge, NY area. Please see our Home page for information about our Upcoming Concerts.
